The Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues will host Artisan Enterprise: The New Startup Economy Forum at the Department of State on September 10, 2015. Building on this summer’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the day-long event will focus on how governments, businesses, investors, and consumers can support artisans and the work of the Alliance for Artisan Enterprise, a global platform that promotes artisan businesses. The forum will also highlight the work of artisans from around the world and finalists from a crowd-sourced multimedia competition held by the Alliance that captured artwork from over 150 artisans from 42 countries. In addition to the event’s program, members of the media will have access to an exhibition hall where artisans will display their work. They will also have the opportunity to meet and interview artisans and other attendees working to support artisans and entrepreneurs around the world. Further details regarding the agenda and additional press opportunities will be made available shortly. For media inquiries, please contact Rachel Wallace at wallacerl@state.gov.
