The 1105 Government Information Group has recognized a member of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM) as a 2014 Rising Star. The award highlights outstanding work and accomplishments for those who have gone above and beyond their job descriptions to make a broader impact. This year’s awardee is Isaiah Joo, a Program Analyst within IRM’s Office of eDiplomacy.

The Rising Star award highlights up-and-coming staff in the public and private sectors for making an early — and substantive — mark in the government IT community. An independent panel of judges organized by the 1105 Government Information Group, publishers of Federal Computer Week and Government Computer News, made the selections, which this year awarded 24 recipients.

IRM’s Office of eDiplomacy has been at the forefront of putting new innovations into practice. Isaiah Joo is being recognized for his work in organizing the Tech@State, programs which are quarterly conferences that bring together U.S. diplomats, technologists, civil society leaders, academics, and entrepreneurs to explore innovative ways technology can address diplomatic and development challenges. He also is being recognized for his work as the business development and outreach lead for the White House Presidential Innovation Fellows’ Innovation Toolkit project.

This latest success highlights the Department’s commitment to recruiting talented innovators to help advance American diplomacy.
