Specifically, the funds will finance the Last Mile Connectivity Project that aims to maximise the use of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company's (KPLC) 35,000 existing distribution transformers spread across the country. The total project cost is estimated at US $147 million, with the Government of Kenya contributing the remaining US $14 million. The project is expected to improve the management of water resources and attract investments to build water infrastructure and improve water services. Around 3.5 million rural and urban people stand to benefit from the project, as well as 2 million nomadic pastoralists.
