Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall will travel to Indonesia December 7-11, 2015. In Jakarta, Under Secretary Sewall will meet with government counterparts and civil society representatives to discuss shared civilian security priorities, including preventing and countering violent extremism and advancing accountability, human rights, religious freedom, and maritime security. To mark International Anti-Corruption Day, she will deliver remarks at Bina Nusantara University. In Banda Aceh, Under Secretary Sewall will participate in the launch of an Education USA center at the UIN Ar-Raniry University and meet with local government and community leaders to discuss a range of educational, religious, and women’s issues. Under Secretary Sewall will then represent the United States at the Bali Democracy Forum and meet with civil-society representatives.
