Press Releases: Ninth Annual Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women's Mentoring Partnership Kicks Off March 25 03/20/2014 03:05 PM EDT Ninth Annual Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women's Mentoring Partnership Kicks Off March 25 Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC March 20, 2014 On Tuesday, March 25, 23 emerging women leaders from around the world will join Fortune’s Most Powerful Women at the U.S. Department of State to kick off the ninth annual Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership. This public-private partnership, conducted in coordination with Vital Voices Global Partnership, connects international women leaders with Fortune’s Most Powerful Women to encourage the next generation of women to bring positive change to their companies and communities. This year’s Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership program builds on eight years of success through women-to-women mentoring. During the program, mentors from Fortune’s Most Powerful Women share their time, talent, and expertise in business and leadership with the international women leaders. Mentees learn organizational and management skills, observe best practices, exercise acquired skills, and cultivate long-lasting relationships. This year’s emerging leader class of mentees includes women from Bangladesh, Burma, China, Egypt, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Kosovo, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mexico, Nigeria, the Palestinian Territories, Russia, South Africa, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. The 2014 Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership program will be highlighted at a dinner on Tuesday, March 25, hosted by the U.S. Department of State and Fortune in the Benjamin Franklin Room at the State Department. During the dinner, U.S. Senator Patty Murray and Michèle Flournoy, Co-chair of the Board of Directors at the Center for a New American Security, will sit down for separate discussions with Nina Easton, Washington editor of Fortune. The dinner program will also feature remarks by Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan, Senior Editor at Large of Fortune Pattie Sellers, and Dina Habib Powell, Global Head of Corporate Engagement for Goldman Sachs.
