Special Representative for Global Food Security, Dr. Nancy Stetson will travel to Rome, Italy on October 14-15 to lead the United States delegation to the Committee on World Food Security. Following Rome, she will travel to Milan, Italy on October 15-18. There she will participate in activities at the USA Pavilion at the Milan Expo in celebration of World Food Day on October 16. The theme of the Expo is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.” Since opening on May 1, the USA Pavilion – “American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet” – has showcased the leading role of the United States in seeking solutions to the challenge of feeding nine billion people by 2050. Exhibits and programs at the pavilion highlight America’s contribution to agriculture, food security, health and nutrition.
