On October 16, Ambassador Thorne will accompany Secretary Kerry’s visit to the Milan Expo and the USA Pavilion to celebrate World Food Day. The USA Pavilion, with the theme of “American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet,” highlights America’s contributions to agriculture, food security, health and nutrition while demonstrating our continuing commitment to international and transatlantic engagement. Since opening on May 1, the USA Pavilion has offered exhibits and programs to over five million visitors, showcasing innovative American approaches to advancing food security and sustainability. The United States is one of over 140 countries participating in this world’s fair, which runs until October 31. The Senior Advisor will then travel to Rome for meetings with government officials and senior business leaders. He will also visit the new chancery building for the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See.
