IIP Coordinator Macon Phillips Travel to Brazil

Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) Coordinator Macon Phillips will travel to Brazil August 23-29, where he will visit Sao Paulo, Brasilia, and Rio de Janeiro to discuss collaboration on environmental sustainability issues, learn more about Brazil’s growing eGovernance initiatives, and explore opportunities for expanded bilateral cooperation efforts.

During his visit to Sao Paulo August 24-25, Coordinator Phillips will meet with non-governmental organizations and social media influencers to learn about Brazil’s technology and communications sectors and explore areas of cooperation in confronting environmental challenges.

While in Brasilia, August 25-26, Coordinator Phillips will visit Casa Thomas Jefferson, one of the 42 independent Binational Centers providing high-quality instruction in English and promoting mutual understanding through cultural and educational programs. He will also meet with government officials, government relations experts, and academics to better understand Brazil’s growing eGovernance initiatives.

In Rio de Janeiro, Coordinator Phillips will meet with NGOs August 27-29 to discuss Brazilian efforts to address environmental challenges through public engagement campaigns. He will also talk to tech incubators and social media leaders to discuss cutting edge innovations occurring in Brazil.
