Press Releases: Secretary Kerry to Deliver Remarks on the Western Hemisphere 12/09/2014 04:43 PM EST Secretary Kerry to Deliver Remarks on the Western Hemisphere Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC December 9, 2014 Secretary of State John Kerry will deliver remarks on U.S. engagement in the Western Hemisphere at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, in the Department of State’s Ben Franklin Room. The Secretary will preview his trip to the region on Thursday and Friday, and outline U.S. priorities on democracy and human rights on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Summit of the Americas. Live tweets from the remarks will be provided in English on @StateDeptLive, in Spanish on @USAenEspanol, and in Portuguese on @USAemPortugues. You can also join the conversation using the hashtag #Americas2014. The Secretary's remarks will be streamed live at www.state.gov.  This event is open to the press. Pre-set time for video cameras: 11:45 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance Final access time for writers and still photographers: 12:15 p.m. from the 23rd Street entrance Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
