Secretary of State John Kerry will deliver remarks via Google+ Hangouts to the Google Big Tent at the Freedom Online Coalition conference in Tallinn, Estonia, at 10:30 a.m. EDT on Monday, April 28. The Secretary will highlight the core tenets of Internet freedom, including the importance of protecting freedom of expression online, and how the U.S. government aims to promote Internet freedom across the globe as part of its mission to advance an open, interoperable, reliable, and secure Internet. The Freedom Online Coalition is a group of governments committed to advancing Internet freedom. As Internet repression rises in many cases around the world, the Coalition provides a forum for like-minded governments to coordinate efforts and work with civil society and the private sector in a multi-stakeholder process to support the ability of individuals to exercise their human rights and fundamental freedoms online. The remarks will be delivered via Google+ Hangouts and can be viewed at www.state.gov and www.humanrights.gov For further information, please contact Alan Krill at KrillA@state.gov, or visit www.humanrights.gov. |
