U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will chair the annual meeting of the President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (PITF) at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the White House. The annual cabinet-level meeting serves as an opportunity to coordinate government-wide efforts and discuss new initiatives in the struggle to end modern slavery. This will be the third meeting of the PITF during Secretary Kerry’s tenure as Chair and the sixth of the Obama Administration. Secretary Kerry will be joined by other senior Executive Branch officials who will underscore the focus of the meeting: delivering on the Obama Administration’s collective promises to combat trafficking in persons. In addition, during the meeting, the White House will introduce the recently appointed members of the newly established U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, which provides trafficking survivors a formal voice in federal anti-trafficking policy. This event will be live-streamed on www.whitehouse.gov/live.
