Black Republican Trailblazer Awards Luncheon 2016

After our disastrous 2012 electoral defeat and the publication of the RNC’s autopsy report, I approached party chairman, Reince Priebus about an idea I had.

In January of 2013, I discussed with Priebus my idea of wanting to do a Black History Month program with the RNC to pay homage to Black Republican trailblazers.  They would be Black Republicans who have made demonstrably positive contributions not only to the party and the Black community; but also to America.

The 2013 awardees were Robert J. Brown, confidant to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela and the highest ranking Black in the Nixon administration; and William T. Coleman, the first Black to be appointed to a cabinet level post by a U.S. president (Secretary of Transportation under President Gerald Ford), life-time member of the NAACP, and argued along with Thurgood Marshall, the Brown v Board of Education court case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Our keynote speaker was David L. Steward, chairman of World Wide Technology, the largest Black owned business in the U.S (over $ 8 billion in revenues).

We had a standing room audience of well over 300 people in attendance and the media coverage was massive.

The awardees for 2014 were:  former Assistant Secretary of Labor Bill Brooks of Michigan, former Ohio Supreme Court Judge Sara J. Harper, and former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Louis Sullivan, M.D. of Georgia.

The keynote speaker was the then Texas Education Commissioner Michael Williams.

Through subterfuge and downright deception of me and the chairman, Reince Priebus, the RNC staff turned my Trailblazer celebration into a minstrel show of epic proportions in 2015.  I had absolutely no involvement in the 2015 event as evidenced by the lack of adherence to my original vision for the event.

They paid a liberal Black Democrat to MC the program.  The awardees were Sen. Tim Scott, Rep. Mia Love and Rep. Will Hurd; none of who came close to meeting the definition of a trailblazer.

Therefore, I have decided to take total control of the Black Republican Trailblazer Awards luncheon for 2016 and beyond.

I have trademarked the name, “Black Republican Trailblazer Awards Luncheon;” and will now produce the annual event through my Super PAC, Black Americans for a Better Future (BAFABF).

Next year’s event will be a two day star studded event with the participation of some of the biggest names in politics, business, entertainment and sports. Next year’s event will be in Washington, DC on February 13-14, 2016.  The program will be aired on several cable networks throughout the month of February.

On Saturday, February 13, there will be a VIP, by invitation only, reception with the honorees.  I will interview the group in front of a live audience about their personal and political journeys.   This will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

From 9:00-midnight there will be live performances by some of the biggest names in R&B and Hip-Hop.

The luncheon and awards ceremony will be on Sunday, from noon-3:-00 p.m.

The honorees, entertainment, and celebrities will be announced in early January.

So please put a hold on your calendars for February 13-14, 2016.
