The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), is pleased to announce the selection of the fourth annual U.S. Youth Observer to the United Nations. The Youth Observer, Ms. Donya Nasser, hails from Florida, and was chosen from a competitive pool of over 600 applicants. Recently completing her baccalaureate studies with honors from St. John’s University, Ms. Nasser is a Truman-Albright Fellow, currently serving in the Office of Rural Health Policy at the Department of Health and Human Services. The Youth Observer position is a feature of the State Department’s wide-ranging efforts to increase youth interest and participation in international relations. As the Observer, Ms. Nasser will attend events surrounding the 70th UN General Assembly in New York, the Youth Forum at UNESCO, the Human Rights Council in Geneva, and participate in other public activities where she will engage with youth representatives from other nations and young people from around the globe. As part of her tenure as Youth Observer Ms. Nasser will also travel in the United States to share her impressions and experiences with UNA-USA Chapters, and engage with young Americans via social media. Ms. Nasser replaces Mr. Jackson Dougan, who served as U.S. Youth Observer to the 69th UN General Assembly.
