Assistant Secretary Talwar Travels to Australia, Malaysia and Singapore

Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Puneet Talwar will travel to Australia, Malaysia and Singapore August 5 - 13, 2015.

In Melbourne, Assistant Secretary Talwar will participate in the Australian American Leadership Dialogue. As the United States and Australia celebrate the 75th Anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, the Australian American Leadership Dialogue will bring together U.S. and Australian leaders from government, enterprise, media, education and the public to discuss a comprehensive spectrum of issues, including defense and security, economics and trade, foreign policy, innovation and technology. Assistant Secretary Talwar will also meet with Australian government and industry officials to discuss bilateral issues, regional security, and defense trade.

In Kuala Lumpur, Assistant Secretary Talwar will discuss ways to deepen the US-Malaysia partnership with senior Malaysian government officials and industry. He will also provide remarks at the opening ceremony of the multi-national peacekeeping exercise KERIS AMAN. The exercise will prepare countries within the region for deployment to United Nations peacekeeping missions worldwide. A founding partner of the Global Peace Operations Initiative, Malaysia has been a leader in peacekeeping by training thousands of military and civilian personnel.

In Singapore, Assistant Secretary Talwar will meet with Singaporean government officials to discuss maritime security, defense trade, and regional issues.
