The text of the following statement was released by the Governments of the United States and China on the occasion of the 2015 U.S.–China High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange in Washington, D.C.: The United States and China held the 6th U.S.-China High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) in Washington, D.C., June 23-24. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the plenary session and made remarks. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on behalf of Secretary John Kerry, attended the plenary session. Both sides reviewed the CPE’s impact on people-to-people relations over the past five years, affirmed the efforts made by the CPE working groups and called for further positive and balanced collaboration between our two countries. It was noted that the success of the CPE is built on the involvement and contribution of universities, scientific research institutes, arts and cultural organizations, sports entities, civil society organizations and enterprises of both countries. The CPE working groups reviewed progress over the past year and discussed future cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and technology, sports, women’s issues, and for the first time in this year’s CPE, health. |
