Rose Gottemoeller, Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, will travel to Rome, Vatican City, Warsaw, Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn for meetings on international security issues with counterparts from April 9-17. On April 9-10, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will meet with various counterparts at the Holy See to discuss arms control and nonproliferation issues, including the upcoming Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference (NPT RevCon). She will be joined by Madelyn Creedon, Principal Deputy Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration. They will also meet with Italian Under Secretary of State Benedetto Della Vedova, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, Italy to discuss international security issues. On April 10, Gottemoeller and Creedon will join a roundtable discussion on the NPT RevCon at the Istituto per gli Affari Internazionali (IAI). On April 13, the Under Secretary will lead the U.S. Delegation to the U.S.-Poland Strategic Cooperation Consultative Group in Warsaw. Topics of discussion will include regional security challenges, arms control, nonproliferation and bilateral security cooperation. Under Secretary Gottemoeller will also have several meetings on international security with her bilateral counterparts. She will then attend a dinner hosted by Ambassador Mull in honor of Polish women working in the fields of security and foreign policy. From April 14-17, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will visit the Baltic States. In her bilateral meetings, she will discuss international security, regional security challenges, arms control, nonproliferation, NATO and bilateral security cooperation issues. On April 14-15, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will travel to Riga for meetings with officials at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Interior. On April 16, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will travel to Vilnius to meet with various counterparts, including those from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense. She will also be meeting with Lithuanian women graduate students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. On April 17, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will meet with her Estonian counterparts at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense in Tallinn.
