Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Tom Malinowski will travel to Mexico April 21 – 24 where he will attend the Open Government Partnership Steering Committee meetings. While there, he also will discuss Mexico’s human rights, democracy, and accountability issues with senior government officials, civil society leaders, human rights and rule of law experts, and journalists and media advocates. The Assistant Secretary will participate in an interactive exchange forum with representatives of Mexico’s diverse civil society, engaging in a discussion of current issues regarding civic engagement, democratic governance, and access to information.
