Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal will conduct her first visit to Male, Maldives for bilateral meetings on December 17. She will meet with President Abdulla Yameen, Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon, Defense Minister Mohamed Nazim, and other government and political leaders, including a group of women parliamentarians and officials, as well as civil society leaders. Following her visit to the Maldives, Assistant Secretary Biswal will travel to New Delhi, India December 18-20 to meet with Indian government officials to discuss the full range of bilateral and regional issues, and participate in the sixth Trilateral Dialogue with the governments of India and Japan and the seventh session of the bilateral U.S.-India East Asia Consultations. She will be joined by Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Atul Keshap, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia Dr. Amy Searight.
