The data released is provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which carries out the majority of the foreign assistance work at HHS. The Department of State oversees the development and management of ForeignAssistance.gov, which serves as a tool for users to view standardized foreign assistance data from across the U.S. Government. With the release of HHS/CDC’s data, the U.S. Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to making foreign assistance data more transparent and publically available. Secretary of State John Kerry recently highlighted the impact of sharing foreign assistance data in his essay released in conjunction with his keynote address at the Frontiers in Development Forum convened by the United States Agency for International Development. In it, Secretary Kerry addressed the demand for data transparency and the impact of using data to better inform decision-making, noting that the use of data in development can help programs become more effective and reach more people.
