Secretary of State John Kerry will dedicate a memorial honoring personnel who have died while participating in overseas criminal justice and counternarcotics assistance programs on behalf of the United States during a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the U.S. Department of State. The memorial, on a wall in the State Department’s main 21st Street lobby, bears the names of 87 personnel who died between 1989 and 2013. The memorial was unveiled last year by William R. Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. The remarks will be open to the press. Pre-set for video cameras: 9:15 a.m. from the 21st Street Entrance. Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
