Press Releases: Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation Thomas Countryman Travels to Switzerland June 23-24, 2014 06/20/2014 04:12 PM EDT Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation Thomas Countryman Travels to Switzerland June 23-24, 2014 Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC June 20, 2014 Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation Thomas Countryman will travel to Switzerland to speak to the annual North Atlantic Treaty Alliance’s (NATO) Weapons of Mass Destruction conference in Interlaken on June 23-24, 2014. This annual conference is NATO’s largest nonproliferation outreach event. Senior government and intergovernmental officials as well as leading academics and nongovernmental representatives from over 50 countries on five continents will participate. Assistant Secretary Countryman will speak about the future of multilateral non-proliferation regimes and initiatives and the Department of State’s role in strengthening them.
