From April 29 to May 1, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Tom Malinowski will be in Vilnius, Lithuania, where he will engage with officials and local civil society. His visit will also include several meetings with activists from Russia and Belarus. Assistant Secretary Malinowski will discuss an array of pressing issues, including the regional impact of Russia’s illegal actions in Ukraine and of Russia’s increasing repression of human rights at home. He will highlight the United States’ enduring support for the aspirations of Russians, Belarusians, and other relevant populations in the region for a more democratic future.
