Ambassador Daniel A. Sepulveda, the U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, will be leading the U.S. delegation to the 6th World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates March 30 - April 10. The WTDC is the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) quadrennial conference scheduled to set the development agenda, guidelines and Action Plans for the ITU over the next four years. Last held in Hyderabad, India in 2010, the WTDC is an important multilateral event for international telecommunication and broadband development policy.

The United States views the WTDC as an opportunity to create priorities and programs that address developing countries’ information and communication technology needs in an effort to close the global digital divide. The U.S. delegation of over sixty members, including representatives of six government agencies and several private sector advisors, will join an anticipated 1,600 delegates from over 119 countries and 68 private sector organizations.
