I love Raila Odinga and I will want him to be President, but my worry is, if there was a Presidential rerun today, what contingency plan has the CORD coalition put in place for an outright win against Uhuru Kenyatta?
While the IEBC may have screwed the elections, one thing we need to remember is that, Uhuru and Ruto prepared for victory right from the registration of voters. When Kajwang slept on his job, UK and Ruto did 100 percent registration in their strongholds.
Whether they used fake dead people Ids or spoilt IDs to bloat the figures of registered voters in their home turf cannot be authenticated at this point in time?
A friend of mine confided to me that youths/ students between 16 and 17 years old acquired IDS merely to vote the Jubilee team from Mt. Kenya and Rift Valley.
Secondly, on resource mobilization, Jubilee is second to none. In fact in Mount Kenya, even mama Mboga raised funds for the Jubilee campaign. Uhuru and Ruto may be rich but it's not surprising that they didn't use much of their largesse to oil campaign.
Jubilee guys are smart; they used money to lure voters by targeting 2000 voters from every constituency where they are not popular i.e. Gusiiland. Did CORD do the same in places like North Eastern where Uhuru got a surprise showing?
It's good to debate here but the sum total of it all is a watertight winning formula. After all, wanting Raila to be President transcends all the back and forth in this forum. Jubilee has sensed that there is an impending Presidential election rerun and doing their home and this time round, they do it even better. Let CORD wake up. Complacency that Raila is popular is their undoing. Lister Nyaringo.
