The United States condemns in the strongest terms today’s bomb attacks claimed by Da’esh on the innocent worshippers at a mosque in the Shulaa neighborhood of Baghdad, as well as subsequent attacks on first responders. We express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this senseless violence. We stand with the people of Iraq, and we will continue to support all Iraqi citizens -- from all parts of the country -- as they work to root out violent extremists and promote the reconciliation needed for a diverse and unified country, as envisioned in the Iraqi Constitution. The United States remains steadfast in our commitment to partner with the Government of Iraq and to support Coalition efforts to degrade and defeat this terrorist group. |
