A U.S. delegation, led by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson, will be in Geneva, Switzerland this week to discuss with the UN and members of the Permanent 5 of the UN Security Council the next steps for the implementation of UNSCR 2254. Discussions will include preparations for the Syria political negotiations, planned to begin on January 25. Discussions will also include the need for immediate, sustained, and unimpeded humanitarian access to Syrian places and people in need. |
