I congratulate the people of Argentina on holding successful second-round Presidential elections on November 22, which reflects Argentina’s strong democratic values. The United States and Argentina are long-standing partners, and we look forward to working closely with President-designate Mauricio Macri and his government. We are confident that the United States and Argentina will continue to work closely to promote regional security and prosperity, and to enhance human development and human rights both within our hemisphere and across the globe. We also continue to be grateful for Argentina’s leadership at the United Nations on issues such as nuclear nonproliferation and the advancement of LGBTI human rights, and we look forward to expanding our cooperation on multilateral issues.
