Press Releases: Deputy Secretary of State Heather Higginbottom To Lead U.S. Delegation to the Pacific Islands Forum 08/28/2015 10:05 AM EDT Deputy Secretary of State Heather Higginbottom To Lead U.S. Delegation to the Pacific Islands Forum Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC August 28, 2015 Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom will lead a high-level U.S. Government delegation to the Pacific Islands Forum Post Forum Dialogue (PIF PFD) on September 11 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Her visit will emphasize the depth and breadth of American engagement with the Pacific Islands. The U.S. delegation will also include senior officials from the United States Pacific Command, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Agency for International Development. Their participation demonstrates continued U.S. commitment to the Pacific Islands region and to issues that are of utmost importance to the Pacific Islands, including climate change, oceans, renewable energy, women’s empowerment, sustainable development, and health. While in Port Moresby, Deputy Secretary Higginbottom will also hold consultations on bilateral and regional issues with heads of state of the Pacific Islands Forum members and other senior foreign officials.
