Press Releases: Assistant Secretary Russel Travel to Honolulu, Suva, Port Moresby, Auckland, Sydney, Rome, and London 06/25/2015 04:16 PM EDT Assistant Secretary Russel Travel to Honolulu, Suva, Port Moresby, Auckland, Sydney, Rome, and London Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC June 25, 2015 Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel will travel to Honolulu on June 26 for the 7th U.S.–India–Japan Trilateral Dialogue, followed by the U.S.– India East Asia Consultations on June 27. He will co-lead the U.S. delegation to these dialogues with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal. On June 29, Assistant Secretary Russel will arrive in Suva, Fiji, for meetings with Fijian leaders. On June 30, he will then depart for Auckland, New Zealand, where he will provide the keynote address at the U.S.–New Zealand Partnership Forum. While in New Zealand, Assistant Secretary Russel will also meet with New Zealand officials and the business community. He will also attend the U.S. Independence Day reception hosted by the U.S. Consulate General in Auckland. On July 2, Assistant Secretary Russel will visit Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, for meetings with leaders and attend the U.S. Independence Day reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby. He will then travel to Sydney, Australia. On July 4, he will attend the Independence Day reception aboard the USS Blue Ridge, the U.S. 7th Fleet command ship. On July 6, Assistant Secretary Russel will consult with European counterparts in Rome, Italy, to discuss issues of mutual interest in the Asia-Pacific region. On July 7, he will be in London to address the UK Chiefs of Mission conference at the invitation of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Assistant Secretary Russel returns to Washington on July 7.
