Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Catherine Novelli will travel to Belgium and Portugal, June 1–5. In Brussels, she will give remarks at the Lisbon Council on growing the transatlantic digital economy. She will also meet with senior EU officials, European Parliament members, and representatives of U.S. companies operating in Europe to discuss the EU’s Digital Single Market strategy, antitrust cases, the Transatlantic Economic Council, and trade and investment. In Portugal, Under Secretary Novelli will attend The Economist World Ocean Summit 2015, which will explore the opportunity that the “blue economy” presents to businesses, governments, and the international ocean community. Her remarks will focus on the link between development of the blue economy and sustainable management of marine resources and ecosystems, as well as the importance of addressing challenges such as marine debris and illegal fishing. |
