Press Releases: Power Outage at the State Department 12/15/2014 01:16 PM EST Power Outage at the State Department Press Statement Jen Psaki Department Spokesperson Washington, DC December 15, 2014 This morning during construction at the 21st Street entrance, one of the power lines that serves the Main State building was accidentally severed. This has resulted in a power outage at the State Department. All emergency systems are fully operating under generator power. However, it will take PEPCO several hours to restore regular power. All non-emergency personnel are being relocated to other offices or will tele-commute for the remainder of the day. The Office of Website Management, Bureau of Public Affairs, manages this site as a portal for information from the U.S. State Department.
