[wanabidii] What we've learned so far from fighting Ebola

Thursday, October 09, 2014

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has brought together different organizations from all over the world to contain the virus. It has tested the capacities of public health systems in affected countries as well as of the international aid community to respond to a crisis of such magnitude.

On the sidelines of the Clinton Global Initiative's annual meeting last week in New York, Devex Global Editor Rolf Rosenkranz sat down with Rockefeller Foundation Managing Director Michael Myers to discuss lessons learned from fighting the disease.

One key innovation Myers is particularly excited about is the strengthening of global health systems led by the Rockefeller Foundation and the World Bank through the Joint Learning Network, a peer-to-peer platform for practitioners seeking to achieve universal health coverage.

So far nine countries have signed up, but he expects the number to rise to 20 by the end of 2015.
