Press Releases: U.S. Commends His Highness the Amir of Kuwait 09/09/2014 02:36 PM EDT U.S. Commends His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Press Statement Marie Harf Deputy Department Spokesperson, Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC September 9, 2014 The United States congratulates His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on his designation as a Global Humanitarian Leader by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon. This award recognizes the tremendous humanitarian efforts the Amir has put forth on behalf of the Kuwaiti people to relieve the suffering of those affected by the conflict in Syria. The success of the two Syria Donors’ Conferences in Kuwait is testament to the Amir’s personal efforts to help the plight of refugees and others affected by crisis, as well as the continuing generosity of the people of Kuwait.
