25th Anniversary of Tiananmen Square Event

On Wednesday, June 4, Harvard-based historian Rowena He will speak on the events of the 1989 Tiananmen Movement and her new book Tiananmen Exiles: Voices of the Struggle for Democracy in China. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall will deliver opening remarks.

The event will begin at 1:45 p.m. and will be held in Room 1107 at the Department of State. The event will be open to the press.

Pre-set for video cameras: 1:00 p.m. from the 23rd Street Lobby.

Final access time for journalists and still photographers: 1:30 p.m. from the 23rd Street Lobby.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
