The United Nations Systems in Tanzania in collaboration with the Youth of United Nations Association (YUNA) cordially invites the media to the Public Debate to mark 68th Anniversary of the United Nations, to be held at the University of Dar es Salaam, Nkrumah's hall on Tuesday, 22 October, 2013, at 0300-0500 pm.
The theme of the debate is "The Future We Want: Are we seizing the Opportunities we Have? aiming to engage youths on
The theme of the debate is "The Future We Want: Are we seizing the Opportunities we Have? aiming to engage youths on
global discussions on the Post 2015 Development agenda that will succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) .
The Panelists at the Debate will be Deputy Minister Finance, Ms Janeth Mbene, Ms Dorothy Usili, UNFPA Assistant Country Representative, Mr Paul Mashauri, Chairman, East African Speakers Bureau (EASB) and Mr Lwidiko Mhamiliwa, Chairperson, Youth of United Nations association (YUNA).
The United Nations is an organization of countries that have voluntarily joined together to work for world peace. The Organization was established on 24 October 1945 by 51 countries committed to preserving peace through international cooperation and collective security. Today, nearly every nation in the world belongs to the UN- 193 countries in all. 24 October is observed worldwide as UN Day and here in Tanzania we have about a week of celebrations ranging from flag raising ceremony, exhibitions, Public debate, community service and outreach to schools.
