William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board has released its 50th Annual Report, highlighting the Fulbright Program’s worldwide impact, alumni achievements, and program statistical trends over the previous year. Fulbright participants build relationships, knowledge, and leadership in support of the long-term interests of the United States and the creation of a better world. The report features inspiring stories and images of Fulbrighters at work in communities spanning the globe. Tom Healy, 2014 Chairman of the Board, introduces the report, noting that, “More than ever, Fulbright proves how valuable – and cost-effective – international education and public diplomacy can be.” The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board was established by the U.S. Congress, and members are appointed by the President of the United States. They are charged with selecting program participants, setting policies, and promoting Fulbright grants to global audiences. The Fulbright Program, sponsored by the State Department, is an international exchange program that currently operates in over 160 countries. More than 360,000 Fulbright participants have studied, taught, conducted research, and found solutions to shared international challenges, including over 33 current or former heads of state and 54 Nobel Laureates.
