On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I am pleased to convey my best wishes to all Angolans as you proudly celebrate the 40th anniversary of your independence on November 11. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, our two countries have worked together productively to promote regional prosperity and stability, encourage trade and investment, improve health and educational opportunities, fight crime and support human rights and civil society. On this 40th anniversary, it is inspiring to reflect on Angola’s transformation since independence, including the resilience of the Angolan people in overcoming war and finding peace. Looking to the future, I am confident that the partnership between our nations will continue to flourish. Please accept the best wishes of the United States on this special day. |
