U.S. Department of State Presents the Secretary's Climate and Clean Energy Investment Forum

Today, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry kicks off the Secretary’s Climate and Clean Energy Investment Forum at the Department of State.

This two-day event, co-hosted by the Department of State, Georgetown University, and Google, Inc, focuses on investments targeting the solutions to climate change, including clean energy and energy efficiency in emerging markets. The first day takes place at the Department of State and the second day will be hosted at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Both days will be live streamed at video.state.gov/live and ustream.tv/georgetownlive, respectively.

Secretary Kerry will be joined by notable speakers including U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz; OPIC President and CEO Elizabeth Littlefield; Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Catherine Novelli; Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia; GMO Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment Jeremy Grantham; SunEdison CEO and Terraform Power Chairman Ahmad Chatila; NRG CEO David Crane; Harvard University President and Lincoln Professor of History Drew Faust; Energy Innovation CEO Hal Harvey; Bloomberg New Energy Finance Advisory Board Founder and Chairman Michael Liebreich; DBL Investors Managing Partner Nancy Pfund; World Resources Institute President Dr. Andrew Steer; Azure Power Founder and CEO Inderpreet Wadhwa; and others.

The Forum will convene investors, corporations, philanthropies, and policymakers to discuss and promote the impact that climate and clean energy investments can have in the fight against global climate change. It will also provide a platform for both the private sector and U.S. government programs and initiatives to highlight successful efforts to channel investments toward climate solutions.
