The Department of State welcomes the commitment made by the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Colombia’s largest guerrilla group, to de-escalate the conflict and accelerate the pace of the peace negotiations. The United States strongly supports President Santos’ leadership in seeking a negotiated settlement. We call on the FARC to redouble its efforts at the negotiating table in order to quickly demonstrate concrete progress on the remaining issues, including its commitment to justice and to effective disarmament. |
