Garber Travels to New York City Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC June 18, 2015 Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Judith G. Garber will participate in a ceremonial “ivory crush” in New York City’s Times Square on June 19 at 10:30 AM. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is hosting the event, during which approximately one ton of ivory will be crushed to send a message to traffickers and their customers that the United States will not tolerate the trade of illegal ivory. Acting Assistant Secretary Garber will also give remarks at a related reception on June 18.
