Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Judith G. Garber will participate in a ceremonial “ivory crush” in New York City’s Times Square on June 19 at 10:30 AM. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is hosting the event, during which approximately one ton of ivory will be crushed to send a message to traffickers and their customers that the United States will not tolerate the trade of illegal ivory. Acting Assistant Secretary Garber will also give remarks at a related reception on June 18.
