Special Representative for North Korea Policy Ambassador Sung Kim will travel to the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan, and China December 3–12 for meetings with senior officials in each country to discuss North Korea policy. Ambassador Kim will be accompanied by Special Envoy for Six-Party Talks Sydney Seiler and by Director for Korea at the National Security Council Allison Hooker. Ambassador Kim will be in Seoul on December 4 for meetings with senior ROK Government officials, including Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Hwang Joon-kook. He will then travel to Tokyo on December 8 for meetings with senior Japanese Government officials, including Director General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Junichi Ihara. On December 9, Ambassador Kim will also participate in meetings on the U.S.-Japan alliance and other bilateral matters in his role as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Japan and Korea. Ambassador Kim will visit Beijing on December 10 for meetings with senior Chinese Government officials, including Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Wu Dawei. Ambassador Kim will return to Washington, D.C. on December 12. |
