The Philippine press has reported that a U.S. service member charged with the murder of a Philippine national in the city of Olongapo is to make a court appearance in the Philippines later this week. We will continue to cooperate with the Government of the Philippines to ensure that justice is served. Any offenses alleged to have been committed by U.S. service members will be handled in accordance with the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA). In accordance with that agreement the United States is retaining the suspect until completion of all judicial proceedings. |
