Ambassador William R. Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, will travel to The Bahamas on November 13. Ambassador Brownfield will meet with officials from The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos regarding counternarcotics cooperation and Caribbean transit zone issues. The United States and The Bahamas enjoy a long-standing law enforcement sector relationship based on counternarcotics cooperation under Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT), a decades-old trilateral counternarcotics operation between the United States, The Bahamas, and the United Kingdom (for Turks and Caicos Islands).
