Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Jacobson Travels to North Carolina

Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta S. Jacobson will travel to Durham, North Carolina, October 21-22, 2014 to further the Department of State’s domestic engagement on its policies and priorities in the Western Hemisphere.

At the Duke University Fuqua School of Business, Assistant Secretary Jacobson will deliver keynote remarks at the Future of North American Competitiveness Conference. She will then speak about U.S. priorities in the Western Hemisphere at a luncheon hosted by the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and RTI International.

Assistant Secretary Jacobson also will take part in a dialogue with students from Duke University’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Institute for the Study of the Americas, and North Carolina State University’s School of International Public Affairs on U.S. relations with the region, 100,000 Strong in the Americas, and careers at the U.S. Department of State.

This trip, which follows Assistant Secretary Jacobson’s trips to New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, is part of our continuing effort to engage domestic audiences on the benefits of U.S. diplomacy with our hemispheric neighbors.
