I shared this dream almost two years ago. I said I have a dream to see a Malawi where her citizens enjoy their freedom, dignity and a sense of pride.
Yes, I see Malawians maximise their capacity to realise their social, political and economic empowerment. I see Government eradicate poverty of its people through economic growth and wealth creation.
Yes, I have a dream to see citizens getting jobs not because of where they come from; but because they qualify for them. I see businesses winning tenders not because they have bribed; not because they sponsor the ruling party but because they qualify to deliver.
Yes , I have a dream to see opposition leaders on Malawi Broadcasting Corporation TV.
Yes I also have a dream to see children going to school and not spending time in their parent's gardens during school time. I see the girl child excelling in her education like her brother.
Yes, I see our education system delivering quality education. I see our health system delivering quality health care. I have a dream to end the fuel/forex crisis in Malawi.
This was my speech presented to Parliament in the 2012/2013 budget session, I am glad that my government has already achieved what I had manifested above, no more fuel and forex crisis, no more corruption as we are closing all loopholes, no more worrying state of maternal mortality rates, no more sidelining opposition parties on national media coverages, our farmers are economically empowered with Presidential Initiatives of One Cow Per Family Project, Twice a Year Crop Growing to defeat hunger and no more human rights abuses under my leadership, the list is just endless!
Good morning,
Have a blessed day!
Dr Joyce Banda
President of the Republic of Malawi
