WORLD AFRICAN DIASPORA UNION March 25, 2013 Minister P.D. Menelik Join WADU & AU Leaders in WDC Community Forum NYC - The World African Diaspora Union (WADU) is inviting our community to participate in the WADU Community forum at 5:00 p.m. on Friday March 29, 2013 in Washington, DC. The WADU public meeting is for African Diaspora and African Union leaders to engage to resolve critical issues facing Black people. The forum will also focus on the mobilization and organization of African people during the global tribute of the 50th anniversary of the OAU for the liberation and unification of African people. We will also update the community on the emergency situations affecting African states such as Mali. The community forum will be convened at the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Cultural Center 2001 Fifteenth Street NW. During the 20th ordinary session of the AU assembly in Ethiopia from January 22-28, 2013 under the theme, "Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance" (PAAR) the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma stated that the theme is to "propel its citizens towards an integrated, people-centred, prosperous Africa at peace with itself." Using Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as a model, Dr. Zuma asserted that "we must as President Nkrumah urged fifty years ago, apply the single-mindedness and strength to achieve the mission of the social and economic liberation of our continent." In regards to the African Diaspora Dr. Zuma stated that "It is our view that we should use the anniversary activities to stimulate a continent-wide debate on the importance of the concepts and praxis of Pan Africanism and of the African Renaissance – past, present and future – so as to inform and mobilise the African citizenry and the Diaspora behind the AU vision of an integrated, prosperous and peaceful continent." The public forum at Paul Dunbar Center on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. will also consist of global and community leaders to strategize finalize and synchronize our plans for the PAAR 50 Africa Year. The anniversary global activities and actions will be from May 25, 2013 through May 25, 2014 for the union and rebuilding of African communities, globally. The public meeting will also focus on strengthening the Diaspora leadership, pressing for a union of federated Africa, and coordinate Diaspora economic initiatives as part of a long term agenda for African economic self-reliance, African education and the union of African people, worldwide.
