India's retail inflation shoots up to 1.62 per cent
Ballooning prices of food articles pushed up India's annual wholesale price index sharply to 1.62 per cent for June from 0.79 per cent for the month before. This kept the inflation level in the positive domain for the third month after 17 months in the negative.

Kerosene price hike positive signal on reforms: Report
The government's decision to hike kerosene prices, sends a positive signal on reforms and will ease the fiscal subsidy burden by Rs 1,190 crore, says a report. According to Japanese financial services major Nomura, rise by every rupee per litre in kerosene price lowers the under recovery by Rs 8-9 billion.
