The United States strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack in Jakarta. We extend our condolences to the families of those killed, and we wish a quick and full recovery to those injured. We stand firmly with the Indonesian people against terrorism and extremist ideologies that give rise to terrorist violence. As Secretary Kerry said this morning in London, we join international condemnation of this attack, and “acts of terror are not going to intimidate nation-states…. [W]e stand together, all of us, united in our efforts to eliminate those who choose terror.” We will continue working with our Indonesian partners and others around the world to combat these shared threats. |
