Assistant Secretary Frank A. Rose to Travel to Europe

Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Frank A. Rose will travel to France, Belgium, Norway, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Romania, from September 28 to October 8, for strategic discussions on space security, missile defense, arms control, and other bilateral and multilateral security topics.

On September 28, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to Paris, France, for bilateral discussions on arms control and nuclear security with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense.

On September 29, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to Brussels, Belgium, for meetings with senior NATO and EU officials to discuss outer space policy, missile defense, and other international security issues.

On September 30, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to Oslo, Norway, where he will hold discussions with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense on arms control and nuclear security.

From October 1 to October 3, Assistant Secretary Rose will visit Berlin, Germany, to meet with senior officials from the Chancellery, Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss subjects related to conventional and nuclear arms control.

On October 5, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to London, United Kingdom, where he will deliver keynote remarks at King’s College London titled “Arms Control as a Tool in the Promotion of National and International Security.” He will also hold bilateral discussions with officials from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Cabinet Office, and Ministry of Defence.

On October 6, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to Seville, Spain, to attend the 2015 Multinational Ballistic Missile Defense Conference. There he will give public remarks on missile defense and extended deterrence.

From October 7 to October 8, Assistant Secretary Rose will visit Bucharest, Romania, to participate in a public roundtable sponsored by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to the roundtable, he will also hold discussions with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense and the Office of the President on a variety of strategic issues.
