PRESS RELEASE

Fellowship Training Programme Awards Four Scholarships to Study in Ireland

Four Tanzanian professionals have been awarded scholarships to pursue their post-graduate masters' degrees in Ireland. The scholarships were awarded by the Embassy of Ireland in Tanzania as part an annual Fellowship Training Programme. The fellows will study Sustainable Development, Agriculture and Rural Livelihoods, Human Resource Management, and Immunology and Human Health. A further ten Tanzanians have also been awarded scholarships to study in Tanzania.

The Fellowship Training Programme is closely connected with Irish Aid, the Embassy's development programme in Tanzania. The fellows have been nominated by Ireland's development partners in Tanzania, including Government ministries, district councils and non-governmental organisations, whose work is closely aligned with Irish Aid's priority areas - Agriculture, Health, Nutrition and Governance.

The fellows are all mid-career professionals who, on completion of their studies, are committed to resuming work with their organisations and putting their acquired specialist knowledge and skills into practice for the benefit of the wider community. For the fellows studying in Ireland, the programme presents a unique opportunity to study in an international setting and benefit from the research facilities provided at Ireland's Universities and Institutes of Technology.

It is anticipated that the training and development of these key individuals will contribute to Tanzania's development, and continue to strengthen the educational linkages between Ireland and Tanzania.
